A grant to help Somerset people make their homes more energy efficient has been extended until June 2022.
Funded by the Conservative Government, the Green Homes Grant Scheme allows eligible homeowners to apply for vouchers, worth up to £10,000, to install climate-friendly energy-saving measures in their homes.
It is not only homeowners who are set to benefit from this grant scheme. Tenants of rented properties can also access grants of up to £5,000, but the landlord will be expected to contribute at least one third towards the costs of the works.
To be eligible for the grants, the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) for the property must be rated D, E, F or G and the residents must have a low income (receiving benefits or have a household income below £30,000 a year). If your property has no EPC you can still apply.
The Green Homes Grant Scheme is just one of the exciting projects and initiatives that Conservatives are rolling out across the county which will help Somerset towards its goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2030. A new climate emergency webpage has also been launched by Somerset County Council with information and tips such as reducing carbon footprint.
