Work has moved apace at the Maidenbrook Country Park, between West Monkton and Cheddon Fitzpaine over the last few weeks. The awarding of £67,000 from the County Councils climate emergency fund has enabled the construction of the wildlife pond and the new Forest school.
The joint project managed by the two Parish Councils has been supported throughout by local Conservative Councillors Norman Cavill, Giuseppe Fraschini and David Fothergill and the awarding of the grant means a further significant investment into the infrastructure.
Already the Maidenbrook Country Park provides a safer route to school for local children and hosts the commemorative Somerset Wood, which remembers those fallen in the Great War from the County.
‘This is an absolutely wonderful project that Norman Cavill and I have been involved in for many, many years. It’s great to see it coming together and the Forest School with Wildlife Pond will take it to a whole new generation’ comments Conservative David Fothergill.
The grant award was just one of 44 made from the Climate Emergency fund.
