The latest Somerset Council Roadshow event was held at the Chard Town Farmers Market on Saturday 24th August 2013. The event ran from 0930 til about 1300.
The County Council has embarked on a series of events to listen to resident's; their concerns, their ideas and their opinions.
County Council Leader, Cllr John Osman, who attended the event and spoke to local residents said "this is the second event of it's type and its great to be here in this historic town. I am very keen that we engage much more with residents in a way that feels comfortable to them".
The Roadshow is called 'Listening, Learning and Changing' and it features a new interactive computer game where people can decide on their own priorities for the Council budget.
Cllr Osman continued "It has been very interesting listing to people and their thoughts on Chard and the County as a whole. People here a brimming with good, common sense ideas which we are capturing and taking forward".
The Roadshow is touring the county over the next month. Cllr Osman concluded "many residents say that local and national politicians never listen to their views or take notice of their ideas. I hope we are changing that and I will be looking at repeating these events in Chard and else where".
