Somerset Conservatives are proud to announce an experienced, dedicated and energetic group of candidates that will contest the seats in the Wells constituency area in the forthcoming County Council elections.
The Conservatives are standing on a platform of low council tax, high investment into Somerset and Quality services. They have already announced ambitious plans for the County and the local area which include:-
· A New University
· More housing for local people
· To move forward a Walton / Ashcott bypass
· A barrage across the River Parret to prevent flooding
· Support to build the Stawberry line cycle path

Bob Filmer (Brent) is a well known local resident and has a proven track record with some 16 years experience as a District Councillor.
Peter Burridge Clayton (Burnham North) has served as a Councillor in Burnham North for 29 years, and has experience on the Town, District and County Councils. He has also served as Mayor of Burnham on Sea & Highbridge for two terms.
Nigel Taylor (Cheddar) lives in Cheddar and works across the Mendip region. He has been a Cheddar Parish Councillor for over 14 years and a District Councillor for six years.
Terry Napper (Glastonbury and Street) is a well known local business man and a strong voice for the communities of Street and Glastonbury.
David Swain (Glastonbury and Street) is a local councillor and estate agent.
John Woodman (Hughbridge & Burnham South) A local man who knows and cares about both Highbridge and Burnham, he has been behind lots of projects from a new school, zebra crossing, over £50,000 pounds of grants to good causes.
David Huxtable (King Alfred), is the longest serving member of Somerset County Council.
Mike Pullins (Mendip Hills) Mike was born ,bred and lives in the in Mendips, he is a District Councillor at Mendip District Council and a keen member of the planning committee.
Nigel Hewitt Cooper (Mendip South), Nigel runs a nationally renowned Carnivorous Plants
company and is an experienced District Councillor
Graham Noel (Mendip West) is Vice Chairman of Somerset County Council he quietly gets on with the job and gets results for his residents. His plans involve promoting business, making sport and play available for the young and improving road communications. He supports the county plan and is very positive about the future of Somerset and its people!
John Parham (SheptonMallet) is a highly experienced and effective councillor who has represented Shepton Mallet for 14 years. He has a excellent reputation for being the man who gets things done.
John Osman (Wells) was born, raised and educated in Wells and is currently the Leader of Somerset County Council. John is proud to have led the introduction of CCTV in Wells and is a strong voice for the City.
Over the last 8 years the Conservatives are proud to have frozen council tax for 6 years, delay with the crippling Lib Dem £350 million debt and invested more money than ever in our Adults and Childrens Social Services.
