Somerset County Council Conservatives last week approved a multi million pound package to reduce congestion and improve pedestrian and cycling safety on the Yeovil Western Corridor.
The plans will see road, cycle path and pavement improvements to the following junctions:-
- Lysander Road / Watercombe Lane
- Preston Road / Weston Road
- Mead Avenue
- Copse Road / Western Avenue
Local Conservative County Councillor Christopher Le Hardy said "With all of the housebuilding planned by the local district council, the County Council have stepped in to increase road capacity, making sure that traffic will not grind to a halt, reducing congestion and accidents, bringing economic benefits to Yeovil."
Leader of Somerset County Council John Osman said " I am pleased that the Conservative Administration at County Hall is investing in Yeovil. This will help make Yeovil more attractive for business, bring jobs to the town and make the commute of its residents that little bit easier"
